Empowering children through education is the key to a bright and productive future. Education helps individuals break out of the trap of poverty and injustice and creates opportunities to maximize their God given potential.
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the largest disruption of education in history and schools safely reopening is among the most pressing and challenging considerations our partners are facing. With more than 100 million cases of Covid-19 reported worldwide, education is one of the most affected sectors. Recent statistics estimate that almost a billion students are facing either school closure or uncertainty regarding their classes, threatening the future of several generations.
This is where you can help.
International Needs Bangladesh, India, Uganda, Ghana and Kenya have asked for our help to be able to safely reopen their schools. Their top priority is the health, safety, and well-being of their staff and the communities they serve including the wellbeing of students, teachers and staff at the International Needs Schools and other schools IN supports.
The measures they are planning to implement include:
- Social distancing practices including spacing out desks and limiting the number of students in a classroom at one time where possible
- Hand washing stations with antibacterial soap,
- Having hand sanitizer readily available especially in areas where soap and water are not readily available
- Providing surgical masks and gloves
- Having PPE gear available for staff to wear when required e.g. when a child becomes unwell or social distancing cannot be maintained
- Leaflets and posters to educate the students and their families about the prevention of Covid-19.
- Cleaning and disinfecting classrooms at least once a day
