International Needs began work 50 years ago, with the radical idea that the best way to share the Gospel is locals reaching locals. Back then, there were just 2000 Christians in the whole of Nepal. Today … despite arrests, prison and beatings of evangelists and church planters … Nepal has more than half a million believers!
Cast your bread upon the waters
The original International Needs tract was floated downriver in plastic bags, in a country too hostile to Christianity to risk sharing faith openly. In that same country, an outreach was disguised as free eye checks and glasses, with cultural music drowning out government surveillance. 250 people heard about Jesus. 200 believed and received!
When an unreached tribe in the Philippines heard about Jesus, almost all believed – nearly 1000 a night! A local church planter was assigned to support them in their new faith.

In a Himalayan kingdom, a Buddhist priest found an International Needs tract, became a believer and was baptised. He shared Jesus with his followers – resulting in a 140-strong band of believers more than 10,000 feet above sea level.
