Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

The Project
Most children in the Savar area suffer from malnutrition and illnesses like diarrhoea and cholera. Due to a lack of education and awareness about health and hygiene, villagers are unable to understand the importance of immunization, proper nutrition, birth control, and sanitation practices, leading to widespread health issues. The Savar Medical Centre project aims to address these critical health challenges by providing essential medical services, health education, maternal and child healthcare to the community.
Objectives
- Improve maternal and child health services.
- Increase utilization of health facilities for safe deliveries.Carry out regular vaccination programmes.
- Create awareness of HIV.
Due to limited resources, the hospitals are unable to provide sufficient food for all patients, and many patients cannot afford to buy meals. Every Tuesday, 100 meals are distributed to the patients, alongside a free haircutting service. This initiative ensures that the patients receive not only nourishment but also dignity and care through personal grooming.
Impact
The food and haircut services bring immediate relief to patients struggling with basic needs in the hospital setting. This practical support helps alleviate the burden of food insecurity and offers a small but meaningful gesture of care, contributing to the overall well-being of the patients during a difficult time.
You can support this initiative by donating financially to help cover the cost of meals, or contributing resources to help maintain the free haircutting service. Every contribution makes a significant difference to the lives of those in need.
A Mother’s Hope
Rupali Begum, living in a slum in Savar with her two children, faced severe challenges after losing their home and land in the 2020 flood. Her husband, Chandmia, drives an auto rickshaw, but their financial situation was dire after struggling to find work in Jamalpur and eventually settling in Savar.
For two months, Rupali’s youngest child suffered from a persistent fever and cold, but they couldn’t afford the necessary medical care due to the high costs. One day, while walking to the market, Rupali noticed many women and children carrying medicine. Upon learning about the available free health services, she promptly took her child to the Savar Medical Centre. There, her child received essential medical treatment and medication, leading to a full recovery.
Rupali is immensely thankful for the free medical care, which provided crucial relief and improved her child’s health during a difficult time.
