How does Tertiary Sponsorship work?
By providing access to tertiary education, opportunity is unlocked not only for the student but also their family and their community. Higher education helps break generational poverty and children become empowered to take charge of their lives.
International Needs aims to give opportunity to those students who thrive academically in school to further their studies whether it be through university, college, vocational training or apprenticeships so that they can fulfil their dreams and aspirations and achieve their goals.
Why not consider helping students who would not normally have an opportunity to further their studies. Many students perform very well academically, however due to poor financial resources, are not able to afford the cost of higher education or training. With your help, we can level the playing field and give these incredibly hard working students the chance of a better future.

Kong
Cambodia
My name is Kong Sophanith, and I’m 24 years old. Growing up, my family struggled financially; my mother and sister collected trash for money, and my father was a motorcycle taxi driver. We faced many hardships, living in a rental house and supporting four children in school. When I was young, a teacher from Flame visited and offered me the chance to study through their program. Flame provided more than just education; they gave me confidence and opportunities. Thanks to them, I graduated from high school and am now studying Graphic Design at Setec University, my dream.
To sponsor a student through FLAME, a full scholarship is $270 a month, or $135 for a half scholarship.

Gertrude’s dream fulfilled
As a sponsored child, Gertrude dreamt of becoming a teacher. Thanks to support from donors through the International Needs Uganda Tertiary Fund, her dream became reality.
In July 2021, Gertrude graduated with a teaching degree and now teaches Economics and Geography at Kings College Buddo, one of Uganda’s top schools. She hopes to pursue a master’s degree.
Grateful for the support, Gertrude wrote a heartfelt letter to her sponsors: “Thank you very much. You have changed my world… You have made me a woman of importance and an inspiration to many.”
Gertrude is making an impact, even successfully advocating for nine girls to receive government tuition support after speaking with Uganda’s First Lady. She also met the Speaker of Parliament, achieving further advocacy success.

FAQs
What is Tertiary Sponsorship?
Tertiary Sponsorship is a programme where your donation supports a student’s education. Education is the first step toward a better future. Unfortunately, poverty often acts as a barrier for many families worldwide, preventing young individuals from accessing the education they deserve. Through sponsorship, they receive the necessary support to access the benefits and opportunities that education provides.
