Students are supported to return and finish school by the programme providing financial support
Students dropping out of school and youth unemployment is a common and growing problem in Tonga. Students drop out of school for many reasons such as financial restraints of not being able to pay for school fees, behavioural issues, disinterest in school and lack of family support.
School is my Friend Programme:
We partner with the Tonga National Youth Congress to support a valuable programme called School is my Friend. The aim of the programme is to support students who have no financial support from home due to circumstances such as; finding themselves becoming a single mother/father, parents or guardian having passed away or students being expelled from school due to addictions. As such, TNYC seeks out opportunities to help these student finish their secondary school level.
Students are supported to return and finish school by the programme providing financial support of paying for school fees and tuition. Students are also given mentoring support and peer help.
We would love your support in helping students in Tonga return to school and complete their secondary education. We aim to raise $26,700 each year to equip the School is my Friend programme to deliver the necessary financial and social support needed.
